Catalogue Note
Naef Orfaley est né à Manille en 1928. Sa famile s'installe en 1933 à Buenos-Aires. Après des études de design, il est reconnu comme un des six plus importants architectes d'intérieur et designers d'Amérique du Sud. Il s'installe à New York en 1969 et expose chez Cartier à New York en 1970 et à la Archer Gallery à Londres en 1971. Il dessine des meubles, des objets, des tissus et des luminaires. Parmi ses amateurs, on peut citer le roi du Maroc Hassan II, Mrs Richard Mellon, Rudolph Valentino... Une de ses spécialités sont ces animaux fantaisistes, souvent issus des signes du Zodiaque, le corps fréquemment en forme d'oeuf, un motif que l'artiste considère comme une forme parfaite.
