Il était suggéré pour cette dernière que le carton préparatoire ait pu être créé par le peintre Jacques-Nicolas Juillard (mort en 1790). Elève de Boucher, il succéda à Jean-Joseph Dumons en 1755 comme peintre des manufactures d'Aubusson et de Felletin. Son œuvre est malheureusement mal répertoriée à ce jour bien qu'on sache qu'il a fourni au moins treize séries entre 1755 et 1782.
