Condition

Very good condition. Minor surface dirt on the crevices. A very few minor lodes to her hair. Very attractive terracotta which can be highly recommended.

Catalogue Note

En digne successeur de Clodion (1738-1814), Marin s'illustra à son tour dans les thèmes bacchiques chers à son maître et excella notamment dans la représentation de sensuelles bacchantes. Le traitement précis de la chevelure foisonnante, où se mèlent mèches ondoyantes, feuillage et pampres et la forme ronde du visage aux larges yeux en amandes se retrouvent dans cet autre buste de dimensions similiaires présenté à la galerie Bellanger en 1992 (P. Bellanger, op. cit., n° 5).
