Condition

Good condition overall with some wear to the patina with some verdigris consistent with age and handling and with some minor scratches to the surface. The terrace cast separately. Casting plugs visible to Andromeda's thigs. Casting joints visible to her proper right shoulder. Some minor dirt especially to the crevices. Bronze finely chiseled.

Catalogue Note

Sujet très prisé, L'Andromède a été réalisé par Robert le Lorrain (1666-1743) vers 1700 en bronze. Il expose la terre cuite au Salon de 1737. Peu de versions sont connus aujourd'hui, dont un bronze au musée du Louvre (inv. no. R.F. 3399), provenant de la collection Crozat, un autre appartenait jadis à Charles Cressent puis Bonnier de la Mosson, visible sur une peinture de Jacques de Lajoue (1686-1761).
