Condition
The patina overall has numerous small losses revealing a golden metal color underneath, notably on the drapery, over the tree stump, on the body of Dejanire an dher legs.
There is a loose casting joint on Nessus' left front leg and a hairline casting jonit on his right front leg.
Some surface dirt.
There is an horizontal casting joint on the drapery around Nessus' boday.
Although the patina is brittle it has a good red-orange color.
Otherwise th eocndition is fair.

Catalogue Note
Pour cette composition de l'Enlèvement de Déjanire par le Centaure Nessus, l'artiste s'est inspiré du deuxième modèle (type B), de Giambologna (1529-1608), la version plus rare montrant Dejanire plaçée de facon diagonale sur le dos du Centaure, son regard tourné vers le spectateur. Notre bronze, présentant une ciselure en pointillée dans la chevelure et la barbe du Centaure, a vraisemblablement été fondu au courant du XVIIIe siècle dans le nord de la France ou dans les Flandres.
