la large base carrée à doucine gravée dans un angle d'armoiries timbrées d'un heaume
Condition
Some cracks and bumps on fluted stems, wear at the corners, otherwise in overall quite good condition.
Marks legible under bases and on stems, maker's mark partly legible on both. The left maker initial very legible, R, the second initial very difficult to read, possibly R for Maurice or T for Turpin.
Very nice and rare set, quite large size.

Catalogue Note
Les armes (d'argent à trois glands versés de sinople, tigés et feuillés de même, posés 2 et 1) sont très probablement celles de François de la Place, écuyer seigneur de la Tour-Garnier, baptisé le 18 février 1626. Il fut nommé le 29 octobre 1657 premier maître d'hôtel de la duchesse d'Orléans puis, le 5 juillet 1661, écuyer de sa fille, Mademoiselle de Valois. Il meurt le 18 décembre 1688. Il avait épousé le 29 octobre 1657 Marguerite Françoise de la Vizée, fille de Jean de la Vizée, premier maître d'hôtel du duc d'Orléans. Cette famille, originaire du Limousin, s'est éteinte en ligne légitime en 1922.
