Condition
The painting was mounted on a western piece of cloth in the past which was stretched across a frame and framed without glass. It was also covered with a thick layer of varnish, a technique used in the past to preserve paintings in a fragile state. Below the varnish there are areas of loss the the pigments visible to along the upper and lower edges as well as along the left and right sides of the painting. There are other areas where cracks are visible to the cloth on which the painting was painted on with associated loss to the pigments. The painting is beautiful and rich in detail with subtle gold highliting and the colours more subtle and vibrant than the catalogue illustration suggests.
