Description

  • Distemper on cloth
détrempe sur tissu

Provenance

Acquired in Tibet in the 1970s.

Condition

The original painting has been backed with on cloth to stabilize it. It is later mounted and the mount is stretched across a frame. There are overall horizontal and vertical creases to the painting with associated areas of loss to the pigment. There is some old water staining and there are areas where the thangka has been retouched. The colours are slightly brighter than the catalogue illustration suggests.
