reposant sur un court pied octogonal la panse côtelée sous un long col également à pans coupés rythmé de deux anneaux en relief et terminé par des bords circulaires plats, entièrement recouvert d'une belle glaçure gris-bleuté parcourue d'un fin réseau de craquelures brunes, marque en cachet à six caractères à la base en bleu sous couverte, socle en bois (2)
Condition
The vase is in good overall condition. It is leaning very slightly to the left side and the everted neck is a little warped. There is very light wear to the glaze around the widest part of the body and a single iron-spot imperfection to the upper rib on the neck (visible in the catalogue illustration). The glaze is of a colder, more bluish and less green tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.

Catalogue Note
The shape and rich bluish-grey glaze of this vase were inspired by Guan vases of the Song dynasty, compare, for example, a Guan vase of this form in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei, illustrated in Porcelains of the National Palace Museum. Guan Ware of the Song Dynasty, Hong Kong, 1962, pl. 9. Vases of this type were popular under the Qianlong emperor as the number of surviving pieces suggest. Compare an example formerly in the J. M. Hu Collection, published in Qing Imperial Monochromes. The Zande Lou Collection, Hong Kong, 2005, cat. no. 29.
