Description

  • Lacquer gilt-wood, hard stones
en forme de pagode miniature accessible par un escalier mobile, deux dragons s'enroulant autour des deux piliers principaux soutenant le double-toit incrusté comme le socle de petits éléments de jade et autres pierres dures, le fond très finement décoré en léger relief de nuages stylisés et d'une fleur au dos (2)

Acquired in China in the early 20th century.
Thence in the family by descent.

Condition

Several inlays are missing as visible on the catalogue illustration as well the figure on top, the stairs are detachable. Some of the carved ornaments of the first roof have been broken and re-fixed as well as the central medallion of the second roof to the front and sides. The central medallion of the first roof to the back has been broken and restored, the one on the second roof in meeting. Some crackles to the gilt-lacquered panel to the back, one age crack to the lacquer starting from the bottom and extending vertically through the back.
