signé BAISHI QI HUANG, avec un cachet de l'artiste

Provenance

With Robert Hatfield Ellsworth, New York.

Condition

The painting is in overall good condition. There are small areas of loss to the paper in the lower left hand corner and rim of the painting, the upper right hand corner and along the right hand rim. There is a ca. 4 cm wide tear to the paper along the right hand rim. There are two ca. 3.5cm vertical light cracks to the upper part, above the cricket, and a 2.5cm repair to the centre of the bottom edge. There is general staining, with foxing in the lower half of the painting. There is slight creasing on the surface. The colours are of a richer, more saturated tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
