Condition
The lacquer box and cover are in overall good condition. There are small losses to the carving of both box and cover and a crack to the rim of the cover with an associated hairline extending into the box. The interior is covered with black lacquer. The interior is fitted with a small pad that is covered with yellow silk and holds a small pale celadon jade carving of two entwined moths or bats. The colour of the cinnabar lacquer box and cover are of a slightly darker tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
