(...) Natura e geometria. Dopo la mostra all'Odyssia, Schifano ha attraversato un periodo di ricerca, accumulando tutto quanto ha scoperto negli ultimi anni: ed è l'opposto della "messa a fuoco" iniziale. Avido di cose, ma ancor più avido di fissarle; vuole dire tutto, aggredito dalla paura di non fare a tempo. (...) Dopo il ritorno dagli USA, Schifano ha dipinto molto, con tono rinnovato. Ritrova la tecnica del passato (lo smalto brillante), ritrova la figurazione del passato (il paesaggio e la geometria); ma lo smalto è meno succoso, il paesaggio, come dicono i titoli, è un paesaggio "anemico". Il grigio-argento e l'azzurro-myosotis svuotano il significato delle grandi nuvole, delle grandi colline. Niente cielo, niente tramonto, niente panorama; o meglio, il fantasma del panorama, del tramonto, del cielo. (...)
Nature and geometry. After the exhibition at the Odyssia Gallery, Schifano went through a period of research, accumulating all the discoveries made in the recent years: he realized the opposite of the initial "focus". Greedy of things, but even more avid to fix them; he wants to say everything, afraid of having not enough time. (...) After returning from the USA, Schifano has painted a lot, with renewed tone. He recovered the technique of the past (the brilliant enamel), he recovered the figuration of the past (the landscape and geometry); but the pigment is less thick, the landscape, as the titles say, is an "anemic" landscape. The silver-gray and blue-myosotis deprive the meaning of the large clouds and hills. No sky, no sunset, no landscape; or rather, the ghost of landscape, sunset, sky. (…)
