Catalogue Note
L'opera di Castellani trova una corresponsione con la musica del contrappunto, le cui regole e i cui registri armonici estendibili a una vastità di variazioni non conosce soluzione di continuità, poiché strutturalmente concepita e protesa all'infinito mutamento.
The aesthetic goal of his work is the perceptive visualization of infinite time at the level of infinite spatiality. With a totally essential language endowed with poetic and phisical tension, embodying the substantial novelty of an art in which the semantic value of language is the assurance of an advanced awareness of the aesthetic-artistic process (...), Castellani was in step with the work of artists who in Italy, Europe and elsewhere were turned in not only to the new wavelengths of sensivity (...).
Castellani's work finds a reciprocal echo in counterpoint music, where the harmonic rules and registers, extendible to a vast number of variations, can't be interrupted, because structurally conceived and aimed at infinite change.
