The canvas is relined. Under UV light, scattered areas fluoresce near the upper corners. Otherwise this work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note
Exécutée à la fin des années 1920, cette œuvre est à rapprocher de deux autres toiles intitulées Corrida (collection particulière) datant de 1929. Pendant cette période, Man Ray s’intéressa à nouveau à la peinture automatique, et tout comme ses Aerographes (tableaux peints sans pinceau) ou ses Rayographes (compositions photographiques prises sans camera ou négatifs), Courses de Taureaux appartient à ce groupe. Man Ray réalisa un nombre restreint de ces toiles en pressant et manipulant la peinture directement du tube, ici le pinceau n’est utilisé que pour le sol de l’arène et la foule. Ce tableau a appartenu dans un premier temps à la célèbre Gertrude Stein, qui avait choisi Man Ray comme photographe pour ses portraits officiels au début des années 1920.
