Oblong folio (320 x 395mm.), 45 albumen prints (40 approximately 185 x 270mm.; 5 prints 120 x 170mm., or the reverse), including 2 signed in the negative by Shepherd, one by Shepherd & Robertson, mounted on card, recto only, contemporary dark green morocco gilt over green cloth boards, gilt edges, a few images slightly worn (the majority are fine prints), binding somewhat rubbed

Catalogue Note
Fine early photographs of India, the Himalayas and Egypt, overall with good dark tones and contrast. These include a number of views of Srinagar and the surrounding lakes, the Indus and the gorges, groups of various tribesmen, a Tibetan or Ladakhi with yak and mountains, and a British resident's carriage. There are also 5 or more fine views of Egypt (including Cairo, the pyramids and sphinx), some military groups and an elephant artillery train.
