A fine brass-inlaid bidriware huqqa base with stand, Deccan, 18th century

the globular body inlaid with brass, decorated with foliate arches containing floral stems, leafy borders above, on a three-footed stand with abstract design

In general good condition, the brass inlay recently cleaned and restored to original appearance, parts of original inlay missing, with some oxidisation to surface, the stand with rubbing and oxidisation, parts of original inlay remaining, would benefit from restoration, as viewed.

The smoking set would originally have comprised a chillam, or fire-cup for the charcoal and tobacco, the huqqa, the base and a tray; each with a similar decoration.
