Condition
The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration although the original work seems to be deeper and more intense, especially the background and areas of white.
The work is executed on its original canvas and is not relined.
Under UV light, there is no evidence of any retouching.
This work is in excellent condition.

Georges Charbonnier enseignant-chercheur et producteur à France-Culture rassemble en 1960 dans Le Monologue du peintre des entretiens radiophoniques qu’il eut avec des peintres majeurs de la scène artistique depuis les années 20: Braque, Miro, Matisse, Giacometti, Picabia, Léger, Dali, ou encore Hartung (et autres …). C’est à l’occasion d’une de ces entrevues qu’il rencontra Zao Wou-Ki. Il acquit auprès de ce dernier, Albatros, une toile de 1955 – une des années cruciales - où la conjonction de la forme (figurative) et du signe (abstrait) ouvre de nouvelles voies.
