  • Height 32 5/8 in. 83 cm.
standing on an oblong base with the weight on her right leg, formerly resting her rudder on the orb and with a cornucopia cradled in her left arm, and wearing a chiton buttoned on the shoulders and long himation wrapped around her waist, locks of hair falling over the shoulders.

Catalogue Note

In the Roman period, the ancient Greek type upon which the present statue is based was used interchangeably for representations of Fortuna holding the rudder and cornucopia (see Sotheby’s, New York, December 10th, 2008, no. 45, and Sotheby's London, July 13th-14th, 1987, no. 469) and Hygieia holding the snake and patera (see W.
