Min was originally worshipped as the local god at Akhmin (Panopolis) and Coptos in Upper Egypt. He was later revered as a god of fertility and closely associated with Aum, with whom the Greeks identified him. See British Museum Dictionary of Ancient Egypt, pp. 187-188.
