from the left side of a strigillated sarcophagus with rounded ends, with robustly carved features, bared incisors, and deeply-drilled thick shaggy mane.

Provenance

acquired on the art market in Beirut in the 1960s

Condition

As shown. Surface weathered overall. Fragmentary mortise in back on top of head with remains of iron corrosion. Two sawn-off iron pins surrounded by fill material at bottom in back. Scattered chips, losses, and abrasions.
