  • A Marble Portrait Head of a Man

  • Height 13 in. 33 cm.
turned slightly to his right, with wavy beard and moustache, deep-set eyes with drilled crescentic pupils, and furrowed brow, his thick mass of deeply-drilled unruly hair falling to the nape of the neck behind, the features below the restored marble nose recut.

Condition

Surface dirty with chips, abrasions, and some remaining incrustation overall. Hair somewhat worn. Back of proper left ear from top edge through lobe lacking, as is proper left tragus. Two locks of hair around left ear chipped. Moustache, lips, and chin probably recut. Nose restored in marble. With old label affixed to nape of neck printed, H. KEVORKIAN [C]OLLECTION.
