  • An Attic Red-Figured Bell Krater, the obverse attributed to the Plainer Group, the reverse attributed to the Painter of Athens 12255
  • terracotta
  • Height 12 3/8 in. 31.4 cm.
painted with Dionysos seated on his cloak holding a thyrsos, and looking back at a satyr dancing towards him in an ecstatic pose and holding an ivy wreath, a maenad and a satyr on the god’s left, three conversing draped youths on the reverse, two holding strigils, the third an aryballos, another aryballos suspended above, the details in added white, yellow, and brown wash.
