carved with the left leg of a woman or goddess wearing a long cloak with deeply drilled folds and a mass of drapery falling onto the thigh.

Provenance

May Department Stores Company, St. Louis, Missouri and Los Angeles, California, 1965

Condition

As shown. Repolished in areas. Tool marks remaining on proper left side. Fairly significant chips and losses to drapery folds. Possibly a separately carved element once attached to a larger statue, where it would have leaned forward slightly more than the angle at which it is presently mounted.
