Catalogue Note
The figures on the lids are probably from Pierce Egan's serial, Life in London, or Days and Nights of Jerry Hawthorne and his elegant friend Corinthian Tom, published in 1821. The stories were illustrated by Isaac Richard and George Cruickshank.
