Condition
Pile generally good, near original closely sheared 1/10th inch overall with minor small horizontal foldwear areas through center showing spot foundation.
Small lines with cotton pile to the field.
Scattered red spots on reverse, possibly from having been folded with another textile (nothing visible on face).
A 1 inch repaired slit, possibly a butler's bell, near the center of the carpet.
Sides with some original red wool selvages and some later overcasting, secured.
Lower end with partial original flatwoven end finish, now fraying in areas.
Upper end missing outer guard stripe, now secured with binding stitch.
Flexible handle, sound fabric and good condition.
