.44 caliber part-round part-octagonal sighted barrel, frame marked on left side BALL & WILLIAMS / WORCESTER. MASS. / MERWIN & BRAY AGENTS, on right-side marked BALLARD'S PATENT / NOV. 5. 1861, inspector's cartouche MM on left-side of action, left side of stock, top of comb adjacent to butt-plate tang and also on tang, inspector's mark GH on breech, color case-hardened barrel, and oil-finished butt-stock
