blued octagonal barrel, frame marked ADDRESS E. WHITNEY / WHITNEYVILLE CT., on top-strap and BEALS PATENT. /  SEPT. 1854, on left-side, 7-shot round cylinder left in-the-white and etched with decorations of panoply-of-arms and scrolls, varnished walnut grips
