blued octagonal barrel with fore-sight, marked BEALS' PATENT SEPTEMBER 14. 1858 / MAUNFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION, N.Y., brass trigger-guard marked C, load-in lever marked C, barrel, frame and cylinder with inspectors' letter-marks C and H, walnut grips with inspectors' cartouches NW on left side, and CGC on right side, inside curve of grip-straps with traces of a hand-written collector's notation in ink
