JOSLYN'S PATENT / OCTOBER 8TH 1861 / JUNE 24TH 1862 , the breech-tang numbered 4435, color case-hardened lock-plate marked JOSLYN FIRE ARMS Co / STONINGTON / CONN, stock with inspector's cartouches FDL (marked twice) on left-side of stock below breech, FDL stamped on comb of stock adjacent to butt-plate tang, US stamped on butt-plate tang, oil-finished walnut stock
