  • Heights: 11 in and 10 1/2 in (27.8 cm and 26.6 cm)
each in lively attire with distinctive fringed headdresses and multiple earrings, the female in a long close-fitting skirt with geometric designs, the male in scoop loincloth and holding an axe, with delicate facial features showing white-rimmed eyes.

Condition

Overall very good but some obvious losses, the male: 3 missing tassels on headdress, the female": one tassel on headdress, and repair on lower part of the skirt. Otherwise - good color and modeling.

Catalogue Note

The distincitive orange-red clay and extensive use of white pigment is similar to the Tala- Tonalá style, or 'sheep-face" figures from the Jalisco region. The alternating  polychrome geometric designs are classic Ixtlán del Rio style from Nayarit.
