Les armoiries sont celles de la famille Fould, célèbres banquiers et hommes politiques issus de la Meuse et d'Allemagne, très probablement pour le baron Achille Fould (1800-1867) marié en 1823 à Henriette Goldschmidt. Il fut ministre des Finances de la 2ème République et ministre d'Etat sous Napoléon III. Son père fonda la banque Fould, Oppenheim et Cie.
