Le sujet de cette assiette était mal interprété comme étant « Le Christ dans le Temple » avant la découverte par François Hervouët d’une gravure par P. Le Petit, illustrant un Ancien Testament de 1669, représentant Betsabée au bain. Quelques rares assiettes similaires sont passées en vente publique : Sotheby’s, Londres, 17 mars 1981, lot 201, Sotheby’s, Monaco, 22 juin 1987, Collection François Hervouët, lot 1642, et Christie’s, New York, 21 janvier 1999, lot 56.
