Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. Close inspection reveals some minor scuffs towards the top right and top left corners and a minor loss to the bottom left corner tip and towards the bottom of the left edge, all of which fluoresce darker under ultra-violet light. There are some very fine hairline cracks to the vertical edges of the frame that are consistent with the grain of the wood. There are a few short and unobtrusive rub marks to the canvas, notably towards the top edge.

Catalogue Note

"Those 'spatial concepts', that are in a way synthetically figurative and narrative, which Fontana familiarly called 'little theatres' ... reflect the imaginative polarity expressed in a new clarity of design... [They] represent a hypothesis of figuration, where the monochrome sky spatially perforated with constellations of holes in different conformations is distanced by the frame, which has various protruding shapes."
