Condition

The individual elements of this work appear to have been assembled and likely did not originate together. Sotheby’s is guaranteeing the clock element is designed by Edgar Brandt and has been authenticated by Joan Kahr. The base and stag figure are likely later additions. Overall good condition. The patinated wrought iron surfaces with some light surface scratches, rubbing and minor discoloration to the patina, consistent with age and gentle handling. The highpoints of the stag design with some light rubbing. The proper left horn of the stag with a possibly minor loss at the immediate end, which appears slightly rough to the touch and is not consistent in the length with the proper left. The recessed contours of the design with some light surface soiling consistent with age and use. Sotheby’s does not guarantee the functioning of the clockworks for this lot.
