Description

  • Josef Hoffman
  • "Fledermaus" Three-Piece Salon Suite, Model No. 729
  • beechwood and fabric upholstery
comprising two armchairs and a sofa

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The bentwood frame shows throughout with minor rubbing to finish, surface abrasions and dings, and scattered shallow surface scratches consistent with age and gentle use. The top surfaces of the feet with more concentrated abrasions, scratches and dings consistent with use. The original hardware appears all intact. There is some very slight evidence of warping to the frames, which is consistent with age and does not affect the stability of the pieces in the suite. The upholstery is later and is executed in manner consistent with the original design. As a result, the upholstery shows only very gentle signs of wear, with some very light surface soiling. A nice three-piece suite showing the gentle use.
