Description

  • Luther Conover
  • Desk
  • stained walnut and enameled steel

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with a few very minor nicks, dings and surface scratches consistent with gentle use. The proper right bottom drawer with two square areas of veneer loss along the lower edge of the drawer which have a later stain, the larger measuring approximately 1 ½ inches across; these are visible in the catalogue illustration. With one abrasion to the proper right side panel of the drawer compartments, measuring approximately 4 ½ inches in length. The top of the desk shows evidence of very minor fading due to sun exposure, localized to the proper left side with gradual subtle changes in tone extending across the top. The enameled metal surfaces with light surface scratches and surface dirt. The metal drawer pull with some localized discoloration and losses to the enamel, likely from use. A wonderful example of a functionalist design with beautifully detailed figuring and rich coloration of the wood.
