Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 6 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. The shade leading displays a complementary green and russet brown patina to the base. The shade with a few small isolated areas of restoration/stabilization to the leading in the upper geometric register. The shade with considerable surface soiling to the recessed contours of the glass and along the perimeter of the lead lines. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with a few light surface scratches, gentle rubbing and scattered discolorations to the patina consistent with age. The base is designed with an interior electrical socket and is illuminated from the interior. The band of Turtle-Back tiles ornamenting the urn-form base are beautifully iridized, displaying hues of bright green, blue, orange and magenta when viewed with reflected light. There is a small area of patina loss measuring less than a ΒΌ inch in diameter adjacent to outer edge of the base as seen in the catalogue illustration. The base is lacking a pull chain and has two small additional holes drill adjacent to the cord guide and pull chain apertures. The bakelite bushing on the cord guide is presently lacking. The three sockets appear to be original and undisturbed. Two of the sockets with replaced cardboard insulators, and one with a replaced paddle switch. The period finial with light rubbing to the knop and some minute white paint specks. The base wheel with traces of old surface adhesive. When viewed in person, the shade is less saturated and less orange than seen in the catalogue illustration, with more subtle tones of yellow, peach and celadon. A highly attractive shade and base pairing with a particularly rare and desirable Turtle-Back tile base.
