Provenance

Sotheby's London, 11 July 2001, lot 249

Condition

Overall the condition of the marble and bronze is good with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. The bronze and marble detach and should be transported separately. There is veining to the marble consistent with the material throughout. There are minor abrasions to the marble, especially where the bronze fits in place. There is some dryness to the surface of the bronze, as well as minor greening to the back of the hair and around the bottom edge at the back. There are one or two small patches of oxidation. The surface is intentionally a little rough in areas. The amethyst appears to have been refitted.
