Condition

The board is flat, even and ensuring a stable support. Apart from some small spots of retouching in the sky and around the cross in the background, which are visible under ultra-violet light, the overall appearance of this work is very good and the picture is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with beige inner slip.

Catalogue Note

According to her diary entry of 3 June 1894, on that day Wisinger painted a sketch of the path leading to the cross on the Bisamberg, a wooded hillside just north of Vienna. This is presumably the picture to which the diary refers.
