Condition

The canvas has not been lined. Very fine stretcher marks are visible in the centre and along the upper and right edge of the composition. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of uneven fluorescence in the sky, possibly associated with traces of old residual varnish, making the surface difficult to read with certainty under U.V. light. The painting presents well to the naked eye, and appears to be in good condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with wooded inner slip.
