Condition

The panel is flat, even and ensuring a stable support. Ultra-violet light reveals a few scattered minor spots of retouching, notably two to the left of the sky, at the top of the right framing edge, and one in the grass towards the lower-left. Some of the red-purple pigments appear to fluoresce lightly however these certainly appear to be the artist's originals, and not retouching. This painting is in good condition, the artist's impasto well preserved, and is ready to hang. Presented in a white-painted and partially gilt decorative frame. Colours: the work is slightly less pink and slightly more luminous in reality than in the catalogue illustration, which is otherwise reasonably accurate.
