Condition
The canvas has been relined. The painting's overall appearance under normal light is good; ultra-violet light reveals numerous areas of retouching primarily in the sky, notably along the framing edges, areas adjacent to the sails of the main boat, in the upper-right quadrant and in the upper-left corner. Over the lower quarter of the composition the old varnish fluoresces unevenly suggesting the work has been selectively cleaned in the past, and there appears to be an area of retouching in the lower right corner.
Presented in a substantial gilt Salon-style frame, apparently the original.
