Condition

The canvas has an old relining. Under ultraviolet light the varnish fluoresces quite opaquely especially over the lower third of the composition suggesting the work may have been selectively cleaned in the past; only some relatively minor scattered strokes of retouching are visible under U.V. light, notably 2 strokes and a small area to the lower right of the main tree, and in the sky to the upper-left and right of the tree. The work is in good overall condition and ready to hang. Presented in a decorative rococo-style gilt frame.
