Condition

Both works are in good overall condition. (i) Executed on a sheet of the artist's headed paper. Although the back of the sheet cannot be seen, the sheet does not appear to be laid down and is attached to the mount intermittently along the edges. There is an old vertical circa 3cm tear near the centre of the lower edge. (ii) The sheet is not laid down but attached intermittently on the reverse to the mat. There is a faint old mat mark around the composition. Each work is presented in a separate decorative frame, under glass.

Executed circa 1884-85 (Seeleute) and in 1895 (Medaillenentwurf Eduard Vogel).

The inscription to the centre right of (i) reads: Karl [sic.]Vogel Medaille [corrected Eduard above]/Bildnis stark reliefiert/Revers ganz flach/Profildurchschnitt der Medaille.
