Condition
The canvas has an old fine relining. Ultra-violet light reveals areas of retouching/restoration primarily in the background, notably a circa 55 by 10cm area to the right of the figure in the lower part of the sky and verdure below, a circa 20 by 10cm area to the right of the figure and below her arm, strokes in a circa 7cm-high horizontal band towards the top of the composition, an area above the figure's right elbow and near the centre of the left edge, and a thin circa 7cm horizontal line of retouching/restoration in the background to the left and the figure's waist. The overall appearance of the work under normal light is good and it is ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
