Under ultra-violet light the old varnish layers fluoresce opaquely however the only notable clearly visible retouchings are to a number of small scattered repairs, the largest a circa 3 by 2cm repair in the cushion in the upper centre, some strokes of strengthening in the figure's dress, and some strokes at the framing edges. The work is otherwise in good overall condition and ready to hang. In reality the colours are less pink overall, and somewhat deeper and richer than in the catalogue illustration Presented in a decorative gilt frame with floral motifs.
