Condition
The canvas has been relined. Under ultraviolet light the varnish layers fluoresce opaquely in certain areas making the surface difficult to read, however quite extensive signs of retouching are visible in some areas of the composition, notably in the figures with their backs to the viewer to the right, in the background in the upper-left quadrant, a circa 4 by 3cm restoration in the neck of the man to the far left, and there are signs of strengthening to the signature.
Presented in a decorative coved and fluted gilt frame.
