Condition

Both works are in good condition, and each is presented framed and under glass, the edges of the sheet visible and not covered by the mat. The colours overall are less red in reality than in the catalogue illustration, and the paper tone slightly richer. (i) Brahms und die Muse The initials MK are embossed in the upper right. The sheet has not been laid down but is attached at points on the reverse to the backboard. There are a few small repaired tears at the extreme edges of the sheet, notably one circa 2.5cm in the lower part of the left edge, and one circa 1.5cm in the upper part. This work is otherwise in good condition. (ii) Japanerin The composition is executed on half of one side of the sheet, which has been folded in half along what is presently the extreme left edge as viewed. The initials MK are embossed in the upper left. The sheet has not been laid down but is attached at points on the reverse to the backboard and the two folds of the sheet are attached together intermittently. There is a very minor tear at the lower edge, to the right, apart from this the work is in good condition.
