Condition

This painting is overall in good condition and ready to hang. The canvas has not been lined. There are some scattered, localised fine lines of craquelure which are not visually distracting. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered small spots of retouching towards the centre and upper-right of the sky, and some small strokes in the harp; there are also thin lines of green fluorescence, primarily in the white pigments of the figures' cloaks, however these are not clearly associated with retouching and are likely to be the artist's original pigments. Presented in a decorative gilt frame.
